Late last year, Labour councillor Rosemary Dartnall put forward a motion to Shropshire Council to help local communities grow food on unused plots of public land and gain the skills to create their own sustainable food sources. The council unanimously agreed with this motion.
The Street Allotment Project, led by Casper and Fleur, has been at the forefront of this green revolution since its inception in 2021 and now has five plots; Abbey Pub, Monkmoor Pub, Grange School, Belle Vue Youth Centre and Bell Lane. With supermarkets shelves lying empty of vegetables that have become a staple part of our diet it is important now more than ever to learn the skills necessary for a sustainable future. I fully back this project so come and join SAP for Allotmenteering every Sunday, where you can empower your Right to Grow!
