“I’m angry at this Conservative government: I’m appalled at their neglect of the NHS. Ministers have shirked their responsibility to combat climate change. They haven't built the affordable housing we need, and renters are suffering a housing crisis because of their inaction. I'm voting Labour in 2024."
Nic Laurens
“As a lifelong Conservative voter and former councillor, I have decided to vote for Labour at the General Election. Labour is the only party offering us hope, economic security and vision. I’m backing Julia here in Shrewsbury to be our next MP. I’ll be proud to sit with other business owners from around the world with Keir as our Prime Minister. I have not felt this about Sunak or Johnson.”
Carol Glaister
“We need change. Improving NHS access means people can be seen when they need to be. Investing in public transport will mean that people can access the town centre, and supporting families with the cost-of-living will mean that people will be able to keep warm and well. This year I have had patients cancel their appointments with me because they can't afford the petrol and there's no bus to bring them.”

"I’m pleased to vote for Julia because Shrewsbury deserves an MP who engages with the whole community. The country needs a government which values our public services, and recognises the importance of education, health and social care and social cohesion."
Sarah J.
“We need an MP who can turn the tide of Tory rot; that's why I support Julia in becoming our new, and first female MP. She's a committed candidate with local roots, international experience and an unrivalled passion for our beautiful town.”
George C.
“Volunteering at Shrewsbury Food Bank and Homeless Shelter showed me how urgently we need a Labour government. Conservative choices have madepeople’s lives harder with free school meal cuts, giving tax breaks to the rich, defunding public services and attacking trade unions. Julia Buckley is committed to making Shrewsbury’s economy work.”
Sewage and Flooding
The sewage in our rivers is sickening. Our river water is deemed unsafe. If we win the election, Labour will take action immediately. The water companies will be made to clean up their filth or face criminal charges. Support for flooding has reduced locally under the Conservatives - residents and businesses tell me they need proper planning and support. Labour will plan ahead of each flood season and put resources where they are needed. As your MP, I’ll make sure Shrewsbury and the villages are prioritised.
Improved Bus Services in Shrewsbury and the Villages
Bus services across Shropshire have declined by more than half since 2010, according to a damning new study. Labour Party figures show buses travelled 4.36 million miles around Shropshire in 2010 but only 1.59 million miles last year. That’s a cut of more than 63%. We in Shrewsbury and the villages know our bus service is being driven into the ground. We’re waiting longer for fewer buses, or worse, living in communities with no public transport at all. Labour, if elected, plans to revolutionise the way buses work: to allow local authorities to redraw their service networks - to make the service fit public need. Labour’s plan means vital bus services will be created and saved across Shropshire.
Jane Easty
“As a health professional, I’m aware of high stress levels in patients and medical staff. NHS waiting lists are so long that health outcomes are impacted detrimentally. I’m voting for Julia Buckley: she’ll fight for Shrewsbury and for our essential health and social services.”
Roddy Doran
“I’ve voted Conservative before but not this time. I’m voting for Julia because she listens - she gets what matters. She’ll fight for our local NHS, armed forces and veterans. She’ll work to make the River Severn safer and support taxi drivers trying to make a living.”
Nicola Dalton
“I’m glad to give my support to Julia. She has gone out of her way to understand the issues facing small businesses in the town and the villages. I know she will make an excellent MP for Shrewsbury.”
