Hi everyone my name is Martyn Harris, I moved to Shrewsbury 26 years ago and fell in love with the town. I have worked in media and communications for 37 years working for all the major broadcasters in the country as a film editor. I was born in Coventry and grew up in a working class family, my father was an engineer and union rep for the AEUW and my mother was a District Nurse being in the first crop of NHS nurses to qualify in 1950 at The Leicester Royal infirmary.

My passion to help people and my politics comes from my father’s side of family with grandpa being a founder member of the Labour Party in Coventry. Living in the ward you get to know an area really well and the people who live in it. If you live in the area you may have seen my wife and myself litter picking I always like to stop for a chat so the pick usual takes twice as long.

In these challenging times we must always look to a better future and help those who need a little help. Abbey is an interesting ward and I’ve noticed how the cuts are affecting people’s lives, it does not have to be this way.

My campaign will be focused on listening to you. We have work to do, roll on May 2021.
