Labour Party members leafleted commuters at Shrewsbury station on January 2nd about the 3.4% fares increase. Train fares have increased twice as fast as average wages since the Tories came to power in 2010. Labour would put public service before profits, taking the railways back into public ownership, investing in and expanding rail services, capping fares and ensuring safe staffing levels.
