Hello, I’m Frankie Rickford, Labour and Co-operative candidate for Battlefield in this year’s elections for Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council. I am a retired journalist, and have lived in Shrewsbury with my tree-surgeon husband James and Nessie, a retired racing greyhound, for the past six years.
Our communities have been devastated by coronavirus and before that by ten years of Conservative austerity policies. Many of the services we relied on have closed or been reduced because of cuts in government funding, and Conservative-run Shropshire Council has made bad financial decisions which has left us even poorer. Shrewsbury deserves much better. Hopefully we are emerging from the worst of the pandemic now and should be taking bold decisions to support our people and businesses, and to rebuild our communities.
